The only actual lunch box I can remember owning was a metal Srawberry Shortcake one. I think I carried paper bags for a while too when I was older. Mostly though, I remember eating hot lunch. We had to show our trays to a lunch attendant, and she told us if we'd eaten enough to go outside for recess.

I had a metal Flipper lunchbox in 1st grade. (I forgot to add Flipper and Gentle Ben to my favorite tv shows list.) After first grade, I think I must have gotten hot lunch most of the time, or else just taken my lunch in a paper bag.

Mayergirl-you're young enough that your thermos was probably plastic. Back when the lunchboxes were metal, so were the thermoses, with a glass liner. One drop and they were broken, which is probably why they are so collectible today.

I bought lunch. My oldest brother had a Disney school bus one (metal). I don't remember any other lunchboxes at our house. I think if we did carry lunch it was in a brown bag.

i originally had a metal one, but somehow the cover bent and wouldn't close
then I went to the cloth bags, and in high school I went to paper bags

I only had one. It was a metal one, yellow and shaped like Snoopy's dog house. I still have it and the thermos. I carried it daily until about 4th grade. If I remember right, I switched to paper bags. It was "cooler."

Ahhh, memories!

I had a metal Care Bear lunchbox in kindergarten. I can't seem to remember the other couple I had while in public school. I was homeschooled from 4th grade through graduation, so I didn't need lunchboxes for long.

I do remember my sister having a Wizard of Oz one, and one of us had My Little Pony. I think I also had a Mickey Mouse one too at some point.
